THE PROJECT
Estilo Interiors recently completed a 6,000 sq ft Category B medical fit-out for CPG Ventures at 65 New Street, Birmingham, transforming the space into a modern sexual health clinic operated by Umbrella, part of University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
HOW WE DID IT
This project involved a full strip-out of the existing interior and the delivery of a purpose-built clinical environment, including comprehensive mechanical and electrical installations. Designing healthcare facilities requires meticulous attention to infection control, patient privacy, and staff efficiency. In this fit-out, materials and fixtures were selected for their durability and ease of cleaning, ensuring surfaces are non-porous and resistant to microbial growth.
The layout was optimised to facilitate effective patient flow, with dedicated zones for consultation, treatment, and staff operations, enhancing both functionality and confidentiality. Lighting and ventilation were key considerations; the design incorporated ample natural light to promote a calming atmosphere, while the HVAC system was configured to achieve the recommended 6–8 air changes per hour, reducing the risk of airborne transmission . Acoustic treatments were also implemented to ensure privacy in consultation and examination rooms.
